Is 2FA Necessary?

By | June 13, 2019

2FA is one of the most common ways to secure accounts used by many corporations, videogames, and social media platforms. At first glance, it may not seem necessary at all and it actually isn’t depending on how you look at it but having another part of security other than a minimum of 8 digit password you set up early on is a great way to enhance the security of your account.

On the other hand, it may feel annoying if you have to enter the security code you get from the 2FA every time you log in to your account but this is not the case with Fortnite. Epic Games will only ask you for the authentication code when you try to have access to your account from a new device or after not being logged on for 30 days. This feature saves all Fortnite players time when they log into their account.

When it’s asked if 2FA is necessary or not, the answer to the question relies not on the security but what Epic promotes. There are countless events in both Fortnite and Epic Games Store where you can be a participant only if you enable 2FA on your account so if you want to benefit from these events and earn rewards in return, 2FA is definitely something necessary if you play Fortnite and interested in what Epic Games releases.
